In the late 80's before punk rock was accepted as a
valid musical form and hair metal bands were still the
rage, New York City's The Beauty School Dropouts were
formed. Taking their cues out of the textbooks from
The Ramones, The New York Dolls and other similar
bands, "BSD" (Chee (James) - bass and lead vocals;
Steven Fallon - guitar and lead vocals, Salvatore -
guitar, and Gino - drums) exploded onto the local
scene with their brand of exploding yet melodic punk
rock.

More than just another punk rock band, BSD was flashy,
flamboyant while still with killer attitude. Not
content to just stand around, BSD were not just
"players" but performers as well, mixing all their
influences such as Ramones, NY Dolls, KISS, and more
into a unique experience unseen before or since on a
stage. BSD's songs were hooky with memorable choruses
and melodies. However this kind of music still wasn't
to be accepted quite yet, and right before the "punk
rock resurgance" of the early 90's, BSD broke up.

During the 90's with BSD being out of the scene, punk
rock made a "comeback" as many bands who couldn't
touch BSD were being signed to record deals all across
America. Even with fashion, the "punk look" was
suddenly "in" - while BSD always naturally looked like
The Ramones and were given heat for it, now countless
thousands of kids (and bands) were actually tearing
holes in their jeans and shirts to get the same
"look."

During the break-up period, musically Steven and Chee
played in various bands (including together in "The
Orphans" in 1993 for a while) before Chee decided to
take a break and see if he was still interested in
playing. Steven continued to play and record until
hitting a rut that lasted a number of years of not
finding the proper bandmates for any new musical
projects. Gino played drums still for various bands,
and Salvatore decided to give music a rest.

Then in 1999, during the "downtime" of punk rock where
its popularity was fading and "pop" music was becoming
big again, Steven, Chee, Salvatore and Gino decided to
give BSD another go. With an all-new refreshing
attitude, where the band's main concern was just
having
fun, the band hit the scene again with all
the same songs they used to play, all of them sounding
just as fresh as the day they were written, but with
an all-new spark of energy. Some new songs were added
to the set as well. And on stage BSD proved better
than ever, with an even better show (using smoke and
fire, smashing guitars, and more) and more inspired
performances than ever before.

A slew of shows in NYC and the surrounding areas
showed that the band was back with a vengeance, and
the crowds at the clubs received BSD with total
enthusiasm. 1999 turned out to be their best year so
far even, ending in late December with a wild show
opening for Los Gusanos, the band of CJ Ramone from
The Ramones. The band also recorded live tracks for
the release of their first-ever CD "Beauty School
Dropouts Bootleg: Live In NYC" with all their best
songs such as "News At 11," "I Ain't Got Time,"
"Metro-Type Glamour" and "Dress Up Like A Girl."

In 2000 BSD played many more wild shows, the band
gaining momentum with every step, and with their CD
receiving nothing but rave reviews especially from all
the fans. But then a big change hit in late 2000.
Salvatore, the lead guitarist, decided to leave Beauty
School for personal reasons, as well as persue other
musical interests.

Wishing Sal the best, BSD forged ahead in deciding to
remain a threesome, with guitarist Steven Fallon
adapting to the new role as rhythm and lead guitar
player. With many shows under the belt as a
three-piece, BSD is stronger than ever having adapted
to the new format, putting on killer shows and winning
the crowds over all over NYC and beyond in such
mainstays places as The Continental, Acme Underground,
Chicago Blues, and many more, with many more to come.

As BSD continues to generate a bigger buzz with each
new performance and is looking to play more shows than
ever (as well as planning various short tours for
later in 2001), plus record more in the near future,
it seems the story of BSD is just beginning as they
head into the new millennium.
